Question of the Week – #1

August 13th, 2007  |  Published in theology  |  5 Comments

I have decided to start posting a question of the week. I will provide no answer; just a question to urge people to consider the things we do…

Why do we put a white cloth over the Lord’s Supper Elements?

For the same reason we cover the salads and desserts on the potluck table: so the little kids don’t poke their fingers in them before we eat!

The kids and flies prevention concept would only fly if it was also OK to cover them with a black, red, or hot pink cloth. If not, it’s got to be plain and simple religious tradition.

That gives me an idea for next sunday…
