Exactly 1 year ago today I turned 26. Much has happened since then…

What many call a “milestone” happened when I received my bachelors degree from Southeastern College at Wake Forest (Southeastern’s College). After being in college for 8 years, it was a relief lifted off of my shoulders. I believe God called me to Southeastern, although I am not sure it was necessarily for the college, but more from the fellowship, encouragement, discipleship, and learning I experienced while working at Southeastern.

That leads me to my next thing, after graduating I stopped working for SEBTS and started working for IBM, where I am currently employed. It has been an interesting transition, but a good one. There are many people here who I have started to develop relationships with. People who I am praying for and people who I know desire to have a closer relationship with God. I hope to be an encouragement and light to these people, just as people in the past have been to me.

Many of you who read this blog do not know about this, but September 11th, 2006, I was involved in a motorcycle accident. It was a hit-and-run and I was driving about 60 mph. I walked away from the accident with nothing more than a little road rash and a 17,000$ hospital bill. Luckily for me I did not have health insurance and as I said, it was a hit-and-run. So WakeMed is receiving a monthly check of 20.00$ and will continue to receive this until the account is paid in full (I figure it will take about 65 years). During this accident I never once doubted that God was in control. I guess I feel like I was spared for a good reason, although it would be nice to be in Glory right now.

In December my wife and I decided to get a dog, so we purchased a beagle puppy and named him Gus (short of Captain Augustus McCrae). After doing some research we (I say we, but really it was my wife) found out that beagles tend to behave a little better in a pack we decided to get another dog. We ended up rescuing another beagle and named him Woody (short of Captain Woodrow F. Call). They are both great dogs and we love them to pieces; and I think they love us too.

In August of last year, I started this blog, The Pursuit. Mostly dedicated to my thoughts on current issues in Christianity, things God has been revealing to me, and discussion about the Bible. I have enjoyed the blogosphere very much. I have been challenged many times and have made a few friends along the way. I have even had the opportunity to meet one of them in person (Steve Sensenig over at Theological Musings). I hope to meet more as God permits.

In April I attended my first “conference.” It was a conference on the ending of Mark and whether or not it was original. I really enjoyed it, and I really enjoyed live-blogging it. The conference was excellent as well.

That is about all I can think of right now. All in all it has been a good year. I look forward to another year, I am sure there are more interesting things are on the horizon. Good or bad, I know God will guide us through.

God’s Glory,
Lew

  1. Lew,

It is always good to look back in order to see what God has done in your life and where God has brought you from. We enjoyed spending time with you and Kati today.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. I had no idea that the comment thing was shut off until Alan told me on another post. Thanks for the encouragement.
